WoW: Forever Will Remove Summoning Stones and Change Mount Costs | Azeroth Archive
WoW: Forever Will Remove Summoning Stones and Change Mount Costs. No Dungeon Summoning Stones One of the most notable changes concerns the Meeting Stones outside dungeons. Unlike some modern versions of World of Warcraft, the stones in Forever will not be used to summon players . Instead, they will provide access to a new LFG feature , allowing players to list and discover groups. Once a group has been formed, players will still need to physically travel to the dungeon entrance unless they have access to a Warlock's summoning ability. Blizzard explained that the developers intentionally want players to spend time travelling through the world, considering this downtime an important opportunity for social interaction. Mount Costs Are Being Reworked Mounts will also receive an economic change. Rather than placing the majority of the gold cost directly on the mount itself, Blizzard has adjusted the system so that the cost is associated with mount training . The developers also emphasized that obtaining a mount should still represent a meaningful investment of time and effort. Seeing another player riding a mount is intended to communicate that they have invested in their character and the world. Raid Sizes: No Flex Raiding Forever will not feature flexible raid sizes . Instead, every raid tier will include at least one 10-player and one 20-player option, while some tiers will also feature 40-player raids . The developers want 10-player content to remain meaningful, with its own challenges and rewards, rather than simply being a reduced version of larger raids. Computational Addons Will Be Restricted The interview also confirms that computational addons will be restricted in Forever. This suggests Blizzard intends to place limits on addons capable of performing certain calculations or automating aspects of gameplay, although the full technical scope of these restrictions has not yet been detailed. A Level 60 Game Designed to Last The broader philosophy behind Forever remains focused on long-term progression rather than repeatedly increasing the level cap. The game will begin with a level 60 cap , while future content will be developed horizontally. Players will be able to continue progressing through the game's legacy systems and develop additional characters rather than simply replacing existing progression with a higher level cap. According to Blizzard, one of the goals of Forever is to create a game where players can invest time in their characters and feel that those investments will remain meaningful over the long term. What This Means for Players The decisions outlined in the interview reinforce a consistent design philosophy for WoW: Forever: preserve the importance of the world itself while adding new systems around the Classic foundation. The removal of player summoning from Meeting Stones is perhaps the clearest example. Players will have tools to find groups, but the world will still be the place where those groups come together. More details about the LFG system, addon restrictions, mount costs and future raid tiers are expected as Blizzard continues to reveal information about Forever. Source: Kotaku
